Squirtle Squad Card Shop exists because of a feeling. That rush you got as a kid ripping open a booster pack, hoping to pull your favourite card. The excitement of trading with friends at recess. The hours spent watching Pokémon and imagining yourself as a trainer. That feeling never left us, and we built this entire shop around it.
We're Trevor Demers and Kevin Ouellette, two lifelong Pokémon fans and collectors who founded Squirtle Squad Card Shop in 2023. We chose the Squirtle Squad as our namesake because they were funny, mischievous, full of personality, and impossible to forget. That is exactly the energy we wanted our brand to carry: bold, nostalgic, and never boring.
Our Story
We grew up opening packs, chasing pulls, and collecting cards long before it became a mainstream hobby again. As we got older, collecting became something we wanted to build around, share with others, and bring to life in our own way. But before we ever launched a website, we spent years on the ground at card shows across Canada, meeting collectors face-to-face and building real relationships in the hobby.
That in-person experience shaped everything about how we run our business. When you deal with people directly, trust matters. Honesty matters. Fair pricing, safe packaging, clean products, and treating every customer with respect all matter. We brought those same values into the digital world through SquirtleSquadCardShop.com, so trainers can shop with us online and feel the same confidence they would at one of our show tables.

Community First, Always
In 2025, Squirtle Squad Card Shop was voted Vendor of the Year in Toronto, Canada, and also voted Fan Favourite 2025. Those awards mean the world to us because they came directly from the community. They represent the trust collectors have placed in us and the effort we put into showing up the right way.
Community is a huge part of who we are. We collaborated with Canada's biggest card show to help create a Toronto-wide Pokémon card scavenger hunt, with thousands of dollars in free prizes sponsored exclusively by us. We do tons of giveaways and donate free products to kids at every show we attend. Seeing a kid light up over a Pokémon card the same way we did growing up is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
We regularly attend major events across Canada, including the Toronto Sport Card Expo, Hobby Con shows, CardFesta, Hogtown Card Show, NACE, Durham Card Show, Vancouver Expo, Montreal Sport Card Expo, and Vaughan Card Show. These events keep us connected to what collectors actually want and remind us why we started in the first place.
Collectors First
What makes us different is simple: we are collectors first. Trevor's favourite card is Charizard EX #276/XY-P. Kevin's favourite is Gengar EX #114 from Phantom Forces. Every collector has a card, a set, or a memory that means something personal to them, and we get that because we live it too.
We didn't build Squirtle Squad Card Shop to be another faceless online store. We built it to be a place where trainers feel welcome, respected, and genuinely excited to keep collecting. From the casual fan picking up their first pack to the serious investor hunting PSA 10 slabs, you're part of the squad.
